Life’s Mission

I believe there’s a reason for each one of us to be here in this world. Not only humans, but every being has its role in life’s sustainability. We’re all bits and pieces of God’s creations who are co-existing harmoniuously for a balance. But sometimes our contributions may seem too subtle to be noticed.

Even if my existence doesn’t create a huge impact on how the world runs; I must and I will continue to benefit others around me by being who I am. A person who cares about putting a smile on someone’s face.

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.

Maya Angelou

What is a teacher?

What is a teacher? I’ll tell you: it isn’t someone who teaches something, but someone who inspires the student to give of her best in order to discover what she already knows.

Broken? No Problem

What’s the point of fixing something that’s already broken? It’s better to focus on the lesson learnt and move on. Only reach for the superglue if you’re certain the imperfections won’t bother you.

A classy soul is all about the attitude- clothes, class and cash are nothing more than adornment for aesthetic purposes.

You Are Your Story

Every story has a different beginning with an unknown ending. Just like every journey charts a different path and faces unthinkable fate. Knowing this should stop us from carelessly judging others, or categorizing them in simplified boxes. Although life is simple, experiences are not- the twists and turns makes us unique. You’ve never walked in that person’s shoes, neither would you ever get to do so.

Blessing Seventeen

A test is a blessing, and a blessing is a test. Whichever one you get, the rewarding experience will enrich your life.

Blessing Sixteen

Patience while going through a rough ride, with absolute faith that it will be just right at the end.

Blessing Fourteen

A fit and healthy body with every single part functioning effectively; and well supported by a balanced emotion.

Blessing Thirteen

Legs. Walking. Moving about without help. Free to roam this world and experience life to the fullest.

Blessing Twelve

Each one of us has the innate ability to change for the better. Taking a tiny step is similar to making a huge leap, as changes only happen when you’re ready; for the power lies within you.

Blessing Ten

Having that special someone who has your back no matter what, when, where or how, in your life.

Blessing Three

Living a busy life without putting your needs first is not good for your health and morale. Miraculously there are quick pick-me-ups like chocolate, coffee and online shopping.

Blessing Two

Stuck in misery, the last thing you expected is a chance meeting with a total stranger…and a generous serving of kind words to heal the troubled soul.

Blessing One

Loving your child is given, but liking him as a person is a grand thing. Such a blessing it is to experience both, especially when some parents find the latter challenging.

Small View, Big Perspective

Through the eyes of a little person, life is limitless without boundaries. Rules and societal expectations are none existent, and you’re free to form your own understanding on how the world works. Impossible and what-ifs are not heard of because as long as you believe in something, it would be true. You may say that you’re a princess or a superhero, and nobody’s going to deny you of your birthright because you are who you are, and that’s that.

Such is the world that my Little Missy is living in; unicorns and coloured ponies are as normal as cats and dogs on the street. It’s a place where the tooth fairy is happily collecting precious milk teeth from under some pillows, while beautiful angels keep an eye on the young and old. And a magic wand, if you happen to own one, is a powerful weapon of change that needs careful handling.

Even when my Little Missy is cautious of others, she still welcomes their company. Though she has some reservations about new stuff, she’s curious to have a go. With her, opportunities are excitedly embraced with just a slight hesitation (in case something goes wrong) at the start.

Perhaps we need to loosen up and take a lesson from Little Missy and her young friends. Look at the bigger picture, explore the experience and stop focusing on the unnecessary details. Sometimes life needs to be enjoyed by throwing caution to the wind…

More things will get done within 24 hours if you only focus on today. When you start thinking about tomorrow, your worries make you lose sight of what’s important at the moment. So, be focused for a productive and rewarding day, because tomorrow will have its day to be today.

At least you tried

When you plan to right the wrong, you’re so certain that it’s going to work. Every tiny details are analysed carefully in order to eliminate possible errors. Sometimes it takes years of planning with a lot of time and money invested in the process. So, you’re set to carry out the plans once everything is in place. However, whether you like it or not, you’ll never be the one who makes that final call. The probability of success is always a 50-50 chance. Just be sure you can accept it with an open heart…for at least you tried.

Love A Little Harder

I watched my eldest’s angsty behaviour in silence. A million words could’ve spurted out, but were well contained inside. This time, my heart neither ached nor did it break; instead a wave of calmness washed over me. Whilst the disturbance took over him, I continued being an observer (and offered a silent prayer) for a couple of minutes. Then, I gave him a quick hug and kissed him goodnight without commenting on the sudden outburst. Tonight, I’d let it slide. I believed that was all he needed.

“When our kids are hard to love, we got to love them harder”.

Randomness At 40++ (Part 2)

When you’re above 40…

  • Fads are no longer on your curiosity list. It’s rather nice to be different than blending in…oblivious than know-it-all.
  • You don’t wait for a special reason to reward yourself. Each breathing moment is a celebration itself.
  • For a peace of mind, forgiving someone comes naturally as emotional baggage is downright draining.
  • Taking full responsibility of your mistakes instead of playing the blame game to appease your ego.
  • Your kids are unique individuals who happen to share your genes, but that’s where the similarity ends. Don’t expect them to be like you.
  • It doesn’t matter whether you eat to live or live to eat. Life’s too short to worry about your diet.
  • Be loving and kind to your closest and dearest without keeping score. Love doesn’t seek equality, it’s the sincerity of one’s heart.

What’s the Price?

If sacrifice has a value

How much would you rate it?

To go through extreme measures

Enduring countless challenges

Giving it all without questioning

Painstakingly exercising patience

In the name of sacrifice

Is it ultimately worth it?

Where glory is never to be found

Tho heartaches are aplenty

Losing yourself in the process

And probably some dignity

What is it then

If sacrifice has a value?
